Whittier ASA saves time, collects information and works more efficiently thanks to Active Network and Clubspaces
The Whittier, California chapter of the Amateur Softball Association is home to some of the Golden State’s finest athletes. With divisions ranging from 8 and under to 14 and under, you have dozens of players, parents, volunteers, coaches and officials all needing guidance. Whittier ASA turned to Clubspaces to help them communicate and work more efficiently.
Like so many similar organizations, Whittier ASA is very concerned about rising costs. Their old software solution was taking too big of a bite out of their operational budget and the search was on for a solution that did more, but cost less. In addition, Whittier’s old website needed a dedicated webmaster and wasn’t accessible by parents, coaches or anyone who wanted to update it after a game. In short, a more inexpensive, less complicated solution was needed.

"We’ve been a happy customer of Active’s since 2008."
Why were you looking for a software solution?
"We were already using a software solution, but we
were looking to make a change. The first reason why
was cost. We didn’t want to have to pay a webmaster or
a professional to design our league’s site. The website
we previously had was very complicated so the average
person could not make standard updates."
Why Clubspaces?
"What attracted us at the time was the fact that
it was free. Clubspaces offers a free site for nonprofit
organizations. We’re watching our budget and
Clubspaces helps us communicate effectively without the
overhead that other programs may have."
What was your transition like from your old software to
Clubspaces?
"Since I had website experience, the transition was easy for
me but I noticed that folks who were not web-savvy were very
comfortable with it, as well. The board members at the time didn’t
face an intimidation factor as they got used to Clubspaces. They felt
comfortable with it."
How has Clubspaces Auto Scheduler worked for you?
"Clubspaces has helped us out. We’ve been able to take things
easier in terms of streamlining our registration, scheduling and
organizing. Once we have teams, we can do the spring and fall
season scheduling. It saves us a lot of work and hassle."
"Before we started using Clubspaces Auto Scheduler, we were using the ASA scheduler, but it just didn’t do enough. After using Clubspaces for a few years, it really began paying off. We could publish our entire season right up on our website with no trouble. It was really convenient."
"There were primers provided to us to help us learn how to use the whole system. Those were a big help. Probably the best part was that we could automatically schedule games, as well as field allocations and times. All we had to do was double check things. It saved us a lot of time."
How has Clubspaces helped you save time?
"Because we’re all volunteers, we had to set up our database and do the scheduling and the teams the old
fashioned way. With Clubspaces, we probably save between 20-40 hours a week. It’s a significant amount.
Creating the database, inputting the players, it was pretty cumbersome. It cut my work down significantly."
