Trabuco Canyon Little League

Active’s online registration changes the game for Trabuco Canyon Little League, saving time and creating administrative efficiencies

Background

Located in Southern California is Trabuco Canyon Little League (TCLL) serving players ages 5 through 18 who participate in nine divisions from T-Ball to their Big League. Founded in 1994, Trabuco Canyon played its first games the following year and in 1997 opened four new baseball fields. They began with just over 500 players; now they have more than 700.

Warming up with Scott Ralston, Web Administrator

Scott Ralston’s two sons, now 14 and 13 years old, have participated in Trabuco Canyon Little League since T-Ball, with Dad coaching one – or both – of their teams. So when he took the helm as Web Administrator for TCLL in 2009, he was quite familiar with how things worked. One of the biggest challenges TCLL faced was the fact their previous system didn’t have a true registration module, which meant doing workarounds to get the season up and managed. He looked into online registration from Active Network, Sports and got TCLL in the game with Active.

How has Active software changed the way you operate?

Active’s software is oriented toward Little League®, which helps a lot. Schedules are easier to create. Various reports and information required by Little League® headquarters is already set up the way they want and need it, so it makes things a lot more seamless. Overall it saves each of our administrators a good amount of time on a weekly basis compared to the existing processes and system. In addition, with Active’s eteamz website management tools, nearly all of our standard forms are now made available online, which is a really bright spot.

How was the transition to Active?

Active’s customer support is good. They jumped on whatever I needed right away. I just wrapped up our fall registration and in the process of setting up Spring 2012 registration, Active continues to provide very timely and accurate support.

How else has Active’s online league management been useful?

Well, as I mentioned, the management of scheduling is great. There’s also a new function for tournaments I’m quite interested in. The software does good things with the management of registration data, enabling smooth creation and management of teams.

Active Network—Helping leagues GET, MANAGE, BUILD

GET: With Active software’s broadcast email capability, parents get word about an upcoming season’s registration, which helps keep more existing families involved, while automating and organizing outreach in important, timesaving ways.

MANAGE: With more than 700 players and nine divisions, team assignments and scheduling are major responsibilities. They are crucial aspects to getting the season up and running. Active’s online league management gleans the necessary data on each player, segmenting by certain specifics, which makes it nearly seamless to manage these tasks.

BUILD: Given the ever-increasing role of technology in our lives, having a way to communicate with players and families online is an essential relationship-building tool and one we know is appreciated by everyone involved in the league.
