SportsBytes July 2009 - News from ActiveSports

Welcome to the July edition of SportsBytes, our online newsletter specifically for sports administrators.

With summer comes the enjoyment of backyard BBQs, family road trips and activities designed to beat the heat. As many organizations begin to wrap up their summer programs, others are already getting ready for the next season. This month's newsletter highlights training, marketing tips and other resources to aid you in your planning efforts.

We encourage you to share your comments and suggestions with your account manager or by emailing ActiveSports@ActiveNetwork.com as your comments will allow us to enhance the Client Service Center with new features and functionality.

Regards,
Scott Leder

A request we hear from many clients is either they or someone on the board was not able to attend a recent webinar. The new Client Service Center features a link to all webinars, which may be watched when convenient for the viewer.

Marketing & Promotion Tips

Marketing Tip

Below are a couple of key things your organization can do to get ready for the upcoming season:
--> Go Green – Go Online
--> Plan ahead
--> Revisit your website navigation
--> Early education for parents and students

Go Green – Go Online

As an organization, make the commitment to strive for 80% online registration next season. Not only will your organization decrease the time and money spent dealing with inaccurate or missing data or payments, as well as unnecessary forms and mailings; you'll actually save other precious resources like our forests.

Tip: Contact your Active account manager to learn about special discounts to organizations taking the "go green pledge".

Start Planning Early

Get a jumpstart on next season by submitting your organization's request to renew your online registration listing.

Not the person that will be handling registration next season? Then submit the name of the incoming board member or administrator and we'll contact them directly.

Have staff that might need a quick refresher? Check out the Registration Center online product tutorials and calendar for upcoming trainings.

Ensure Easy Website Navigation

Place the "Register Online Go!" web button prominently on your home page for easy access to your online registration forms for your parents, players and members.

Provide easy-to-follow steps to completing the online registration process

Include a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section to cover the most commonly asked questions. Don't forget to remind visitors that online registration through Active is safe and secure. An easy way to do that is to add the Secure Certificate icon on your site using our free and easy Button Generator.

Educate Parents and Registrants Early

It is important that every volunteer and board member is comfortable explaining the online registration process to players and parents along with the benefits.

Include links to your Web site's online registration FAQ page within all email communications and promotional materials.

Check out June's webinar Making Online Registration Work for Your Organization for tips on how your organization can streamline your registration process for your next season.

"I received a call from an Active representative informing me about the company’s latest online registration system. Our registration period was slated to open a month from then, so we did a demonstration of Active’s integrated registration and data management center over the phone and, within two weeks, had a live database and absolutely no problems. The [Thriva] registration solution just worked great. We were impressed with the new system’s pricing and the representatives that we spoke with at Active."

Laura Hilt

I joined ActiveSports as an Account Executive in February 2008. In my current role, I work on building and maintaining relationships with soccer and baseball clients throughout the northeast and mid-western United States. I love teaching customers how our software solutions can help their sports associations thrive.

In my spare time, I love enjoying sunny San Diego with my friends, but live to travel – in the past year I've been fortunate enough to visit Barcelona and the island of Oahu. I am also in the midst of planning for a summer 2010 wedding in Maui while earning my MBA in Health Care Management

I also enjoy hiking, running, cycling, and competing in triathlons. Most recently, I competed as part of the ActiveX Corporate Challenge team in the Solana Beach Sprint Triathlon. The ActiveX Team raised over $31K for the Monarch School which provides accredited education and social services to at-risk and homeless children here in San Diego.
