SportsBytes June 2009 - News from ActiveSports

Welcome to the June edition of SportsBytes, our online newsletter specifically for sports administrators.

Each edition offers information on successfully managing your sports club or league, featuring product announcements, enhancements and general support tips along with introductions to the many dedicated team members focused exclusively on you.

This month we are excited to announce the launch of our new Client Services Center. This new section on the ActiveSports.com website allows your organization to submit a request to renew or update your account contact details, direct access to frequently requested resources, FAQs and webinars, along with a Meet the Team section.

We encourage you to share your comments and suggestions with your account manager or by emailing ActiveSports@ActiveNetwork.com as your comments will allow us to enhance the Client Service Center with new features and functionality.

Regards,
Scott Leder

Marketing & Promotion Tips

Marketing Tip

Here are some tips our league and club administrators have shared with us on how they successfully promoted online registration to reduce workloads and long hours for their organizations:

1. Promote the Online Registration option.

"We extracted email addresses from the league administration software and compiled a database to send emails and posted on the team website. The emails worked. In the first season, 90% of registrations were processed through the new online system."

Bill, Maumelle Sports Association

2. You can not over-communicate the shift to online.

"We did it one way for a long time. When that pre-registration form doesn't show up in their mailbox anymore, you're bound to get calls. Start early and communicate often. Use the database in place today and start mailing out postcards to tell your participants and their parents about the change."

Win, Sandy Plains Baseball Association

Additional Tip: Promote the availability and convenience of online registration in your voicemail message for callers to hear and be sure to provide your website URL address clearly.

"ClubReg has alleviated time-consuming data entry with nearly 100% of the Club's registrations processed online. Now parents can change their own email addresses and phone numbers and submit their own registrations. They're more accountable for ensuring an accurate and timely registration. It's just so convenient and easy to use. I don't have to spend the time trying to interpret handwriting and manually entering it into our back-end system. ClubReg just saves me a ton of time. "

Amanda Bourquin, Account Executive

Amanda Bourquin

I joined Active as an Account Executive over a year ago and consult with soccer and baseball administrators coast to coast including CA, FL, GA and TX on Active's technologies and marketing solutions. My goal is to help each organization streamline their overall club or league registration, administration and management (and yes, hassles); and I work closely with player agents, info officers, registrars, tournament directors and league administrators to recommend the best solution based on their needs and budget objectives.

Outside of work, I am an avid lacrosse fan and coach girls' lacrosse at Torrey Pines High School (San Diego, CA). This season we made it all the way to the Southern CA championships but came up one goal short in the final game. It was my team's first championship appearance since 2003 so in the end a great accomplishment! I also run a lacrosse club for high school players called Element 5.

When not on a lacrosse field, I still love to spend my time outdoors—whether hiking, running, playing beach volleyball or taking a bike ride on my cruiser. I often ride my cruiser down the Pacific Beach board walk and then stop to play volleyball in Mission Beach. The ride to the courts is much more fun than the uphill trek home. My other interests include reading fiction novels (I am currently in the middle of the Twilight series) and light reads on the best sellers lists, as well as cooking new dishes that I see on Food Network and other favorite cooking shows. I also enjoy taking my camera out and shooting the Southern California scenery, but my favorite is to photograph sunsets and the beach.
