Menlo–Atherton Little League Saves 100 Hours of Time Each Year with Online Registration
|
 |
|
Menlo–Atherton Little League
Location: Menlo Park, CA
Website URL: http://www.m-all.org/
Active Client Since: 2004
Dugout Details The Menlo–Atherton Little League serves approximately 500 children between the ages of 6 and 15. The League is comprised of 40 teams in eight divisions of baseball.
At Bat with Mike Kardos, League Registrar Why were you looking for online league management software?
The overall paperwork can be quite a load, even with only a few hundred players. Collecting hundreds of checks through the mail, distributing paper registration forms and getting coaches to collect medical waivers took too much time.
How are you using Active’s technology today?
We use online registration for all of our divisions and set up custom questions on the forms to collect the player data we need. Just last year the functionality was added to allow us to accept parent signatures electronically and we began collecting medical waivers online as well. It’s easy to parse out contact and special needs/medical alert information from the central database and we send it to commissioners and coaches. The reporting is also pretty good and we use that frequently. Essentially, we are a paperless operation–it’s so much easier to collect payment and information with online league management software.
What percentage of your players use Little League online registration?
Normally we have a pretty high percentage, but this year we were able to get 100% of our registrations online. The reason being is that we were able to implement “coupons” which could be accepted and processed online for our scholarship players. It was really convenient.
How has Active’s Little League management software helped your league?
It’s mostly an issue of time. With 500 kids to get registered and medical waivers that need to be signed, it has saved us about 100 hours of time per year….not to mention about 2500 pieces of paper since we started using Active!
How did you win the Honoring the Game award from Active’s partner, Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)?
We won the Honoring the Game award because of the positive league culture we promote to our players, fans, coaches and volunteers. We’ve really embraced the PCA model and it has made a significant improvement in our league culture.

Team Huddle: Meet a team member who works with our national governing bodies!

Amanda Bourquin
Senior Account Manager, Strategic Accounts
|
 |
|
I joined Active Network in April 2008 as an Account Executive on the ActiveSports team. For over two years, I consulted with local soccer and baseball administrators coast to coast on Active’s technologies and marketing solutions. Recently, I joined the Strategic Accounts Team as a Senior Account Manager. Our team helps develop Active’s partnerships with national governing bodies (NGBs) like USA Hockey, iHoops and the American Youth Soccer Association, to name a few. We help our club and league clients build awareness and participation while simultaneously helping our national partners streamline their administration, reduce overhead costs and expand their service offerings. We do our best to understand what the NGBs and our clients need and we work hard to provide solutions for both.
Outside of work, I am an avid lacrosse fan and enjoy keeping up with the latest Southern California lacrosse developments. I love to spend my time outdoors–whether hiking, running, playing beach volleyball or taking a bike ride on my cruiser. My other interests include reading fiction novels on the bestsellers lists, as well as cooking new dishes that I see on Food Network. I recently took a cooking class at a local venue in San Diego which gave me some new cooking skills to work on. I also love to travel, when work allows, and next on my list of places to go are Spain, Africa and Japan!
